Ultrasound Fellowship

The Ultrasound fellowship is a 1-year fellowship set entirely at SIUH. We are currently selecting one fellow per year. Candidates for this fellowship must have completed either a 3- or 4-year ACGME-accredited Emergency Medicine residency.  Ideally, candidates for the fellowship will have shown an interest in emergency ultrasound during their residency.

SIUH has a burgeoning 3-year EM residency program and a diverse faculty with additional fellowship training in a variety of specialties, including toxicology and pediatrics.  We currently have 3 GE Venue machines (2 at North site, 1 at South site) and 1 Zonare Mindray machine fully equipped with a variety of ultrasound probes. Image storage and review is done through QPATH-E.

The fellow will have the opportunity to spend the year training in the basic and advanced applications in Emergency Ultrasound.  The fellow will also be involved in weekly image review, monthly lectures for the faculty, residents and medical students, as well as hospital-wide ultrasound teaching opportunities.  The fellow will have the opportunity to participate in monthly journal club with other NYC-area ultrasound fellowship programs, attend city-wide ultrasound rounds, and attend regional and national conferences.  There is also the opportunity to teach ultrasound in an international setting.  Clinically, the fellow will be responsible for 16 hours of clinical duties and will work at both the North and South sites of SIUH. 

During the course of the year, the fellow will be working closely with Dr. Greenstein (Director, Emergency Medicine Ultrasound, Fellowship Director), Drs. Tama, Rudnin, Caputo, and Salazar.
