Learning Points:
- See as many kids as you can to pick up abnormal - "Your eyes do not see what your mind does not know"
-Progress notes are important and show your care, time course, changes, and thought process.
- Always take atraumatic back pain in a child seriously and work up.
- Beware of DKA in quiet tachypnea
- Don't talk yourself out of doing the right thing. If you feel like something isn't right, it probably isn't. Trust your gut.
- When delivering bad news to parents: Always say the child's name, say that he or she has died, never leave the child alone, contact the pediatrician
- With special needs children always trust their parents. Ensure patients are in a private room and minimize their stimulation.
