Learning Points:
See as many kids as you can to pick up abnormal -
"Your eyes do not see what your mind does not know"
Progress notes are important and show your care, time course, changes, and thought process.
Always take atraumatic back pain in a child seriously and work up.
Beware of DKA in quiet tachypnea
Don't talk yourself out of doing the right thing. If you feel like something isn't right, it probably isn't. Trust your gut.
When delivering bad news to parents: Always say the child's name, say that he or she has died, never leave the child alone, contact the pediatrician
With special needs children always trust their parents. Ensure patients are in a private room and minimize their stimulation.
