Division of Research
The research division at Staten Island University Hospital is going through some exciting changes. The focus of this division has changed to emphasize a more academic environment with a goal to complete more rigorous prospective studies. Our two full-time research associates include a registered nurse and physician assistant who are dedicated to actively recruiting patients and organizing the many current projects within the department. Residents in emergency medicine will be expected to participate in some scholarly activity within the research department during their 3 years of training. The goal of this involvement is to allow for those residents interested, to independently develop their own hypotheses and protocols for future research. The expectation is for our residents to present their work at meetings on the state and national levels.
