The Short and Sweet of MAP

Here's an editorial on target mean arterial pressure in NEJM.  It is prompted by an article in the same issue on goal MAP in previously hypertensive patients with the thought that due to their chronic hypertension they may benefit from higher MAP for end organ perfusion.  In essence, there was a higher risk for atrial fibrillation but they required less renal replacement therapy.  The study has confounders in my opinion but read the editorial and the article itself and make your own conclusions.
